BUSTED A GIANT JESUS

***Not sure what got over me today, but took some time in the sand to power this piece out, thinking it's a good new direction for my artistic endeavors.

THE EVEN KEEL BY JOE CURREN

***Been a while in the making but Joe Curren has a signature keel fin model through channel islands surfboards. Looks like a speed wizzer. Hoping I can try one, one of these days. Was lucky enough to design the logo, big honor to have helped Mr. Joe Bud. Happy shredding

DEAR and YONDER WORLD PREMIER

***Made my way to the Dear and Yonder world premier last night at La Paloma. It was beyond maximum capacity and the female energy was buzzing. Lots of surf gals in the house and Andria and Tiff have created an inspirational chick flick for all ages, and gender too... I loved the part on a SF body surfer as well as the story of Liz Clark. Well done ladies. If you get a chance check out one of the showing at a theater near you.

AZORES SURF, ART & MUSIC

***Digging into a sick open ocean ledge we scouted.
***Rasta driving after a bit of trickery on land.
***Quadrophonic slice and dice
***A illustration that speaks on behalf of my frustrations with the history of whaling.

***Dave was shredding this crappy little Uke, the entire trip. It's safe to say he exists off frequency's and is really good at tapping into the right levels of music, surf, life.

THE POWER OF EXPERIENCE

After seeing "The Cove" movie premier the wind in my sails were fairly flattened. As with so many other times in my life the sea stepped into play a pivotal role in my physical and emotional balancing the next morning. After a early morning radio interview, we offered the opportunity to take the entire S4C team out on a whale/dolphin watch tour. Withing minutes of putzing around out sea our group was surrounded by a massive group of Atlantic spotted dolphins as well as common dolphin. They were moving at high speeds and in hot prosuite of a few females in the group for a bit of sea love. The group went really mellow soon there after and we were allowed to hang from the boats rope lines 3 at a time and experience their magic from under water. The visibility was hundreds of feet and the sounds exchanged from the pod was pure magic. At one point I surrounded by 8 or so playful creatures making eye contact and fully showing off for me. This experience only solidified my willingness to do whatever it takes to help preserve their rights within the sea.
After we left Madeira and headed for the Azores, we all dreamt of experiencing Sperm Whales first hand. As luck had it on our 3rd day of the trip we organized a trip and found a pod of whales moseying south bound with gentle currents. The pod consisted of 6 adults protecting one playful calf. The Calf breached three times and would periodically swim towards our idol boat. So powerful. These whales have to be the most unique and interesting species next to the Narwhal. The experience was a dream come true and our group was happy to spend quality time within a once whale hunting port, turned full blown whale loving tourism destination.

MUST WATCH DOCUMENTARY "THE COVE"

Feels good to be back home. Now that I'm back and internet is easy, I'll do my best to share a few of the key highlight of the Surfers For Cetaceans IWC efforts from the front lines of the 61st meeting in Madeira, Portugal.

1. The Cove- Saw the premier of this movie with a select crew of S4C members and a packed house. This movie touched me in so many ways, from the graphic images of the annual Japanese dolphin hunts, to the story line behind flippers original trainer and the astounding facts behind the live dolphin trade. There are so many wrong doings surrounding this issue it keeps me up at night. After experiencing the full emotional potency of the project I am confident this project is a beacon of light in exposing the terrible secrets of this bloody trade.
If you have a moment please visit their website to learn more about facts about the dolphin hunts and movie showing. www.takepart.com/thecove

The only way this will stop is for the world to know the truth.

LOST IN TRANSIT

Waiting quietly in a room full of foreign banter in Lisbon Airport. S4C mission is over. We got a lot of work accomplished while in these Portuguese waters. I learnt alot and was heavily inspired by some heavy hitting environmentalist. So driven and forward thinking, it was an honor to work side by side with my heroes. Love the feeling of being alone, travelling in a group for two weeks starts to get a bit much, have 20 hours between flights, thinking of wandering the streets and filling the inspiration cup. Be home soon and I`ll get back on the blog, keep an eye out for a massive amount of new photos and sketch book pieces. OK, all the best,

Can`t wait for proper veggie food.
